Q: How do I filter to the information I need?
Legal 500 Historical Data can be filtered by Year, Firm, Practice Area and Jurisdiction.
Use the filters to the right of the visualisation to define the precise data you wish to view. Each time you select an option the data onscreen will reload to visualise your selection (this may take a few seconds as large amounts of data are processed).
Q: How can I combine filters?
The filters you set at the top of the page will affect which options appear further down the page, allowing you to narrow down on the specific data you want to see. If you select "2019" alone from the filter at the top of the page, only practice areas and countries which featured in that year will appear below. Similarly, if you select a specific country, the practice areas listed below will reload to show only those sectors that are included for the country you have selected.
Q: Can I search the data?
Each of the filters has a search function which can be used to find a specific firm's data, or all data relating to a specific practice area or jurisdiction. Click on the magnifying glass to reveal the search bar and start typing to activate the predictive search
Q: How can I access text write-ups?
You can either download complete data using the options below, or you can copy information directly out of the visualisations. Click on the paragraph you wish to copy so that it turns blue. A preview box will then appear containing the text in accessible form, from which you can highlight and extract the information you need.

Q: How can I download the data I am looking at?
At the bottom of the visualisation you will see a download icon, which brings up a set of options
There are various options for downloading the information displayed in the visualisations. You can use images to enhance marketing material or reports, download the data direct to Excel for further analysis and accessibility, or convert the view for PDF for internal and external dissemination (though please be aware of our copyright rules!)
The "crosstab" option allows you to download your visualisation to Excel in .csv format.
Q: How can I access different visualisations of the data?
At the top of the visualisation, alternative views of the data you are looking at are available via additional tabs. Here you can view counts and trackers depicting law firm and individual rankings over time.
